Encounter/Exposure

As a response to a self-inspired brief related to topics like the Environment, Wildlife conservation and Education that resulted in the creation of a campaign idea in the form of s series of story books and in the style of a comic. This outcome is a new way in which to try and educate children and young teens about a range of subjects, the main one being fire awareness and safety in the outdoors. This has come from the belief that by instilling lessons like this at a pivotal moment in everyone’s adolescence that it may consciously and subconsciously give rise to a brighter future.

A Walk Through 'The Forestry'

This is a side project that I’ve made with the same basic idea of bringing awareness towards environmental safety through imagery of the local forestry areas that many people go to and littler, vandalise and overall damage to the area that one day might not recover. making this book has been a little tricky as I’ve mainly been making work for children or young adults whereas this book is mainly for adults and so i had to be mindful of how to structure things.

Summer Comic - Miner Tales

This next project was a quick response towards Myths and Legends in my local area. It's a short comic about Miners in the mines with an unexpected surprise. The main purpose was to experiment with a different material like pencils and pens rather than my typical go-to digital and water colour style.

Creative Conscience

Creative Conscience was another competition where you were asked to pick one brief out of five and create an idea that promote sustainability, Freedom, Social health and well-being for every community. I chose the open brief as I wanted to shed light on the issues in domesticated animal abuse and how to create ways in which the numbers of these animals that are abandoned and hurt can reduce. The outcome was a story book that would be used as a campaign tool to mould the minds of children to respect and care for the animals and not to treat them as objects.

Kablamoo!

This project labelled as 'Kablamooo!' was to create a comic, the context was free of choice which resulted in the creation of 'Respawn' where a character is brought back time and time again if strange but funny ways. This is also the first comic book made by me that ended up being published (Not too bad for a first try).

Penguin

This project was a competition made by Penguin publishing to create a cover for one of three books. I chose the book 'Wonder' it’s a story about a boy born with facial differences who learns to be part of society rather than separate, the main finished outcome was influenced by the characters description of the night sky.

TED-Talk

This work is what was produced in response to a TED-Talk brief where you had to choose any video from the channel 'TED-Talk' and create an outcome of your choice. In this gallery shows the final outcome plus roughs, experimentation and alterations that occurred during the project.

Conversations with Unicorns

In this folder there’s a smattering of projects. the first one being a response to the story 'Conversations with Unicorns' by Peter Carey, there were many outcomes for this project but the ones I favoured the most and thought best related to the story were these images.

Home Truths - Memories

For this project we were required to make something with the context of 'Home Truths' and in either the material Fabric or Ceramic. I did try both but found Fabric work, and more specific Applique more satisfying and enjoyable to work with as well as thinking the outcomes had a more desired effect of reminding me of home as in primary school we were always doing some form of stitch work. I felt this section of work wasn’t my strongest but i believe it helped in breaking op the cycle of just making thinks in 2D.

Relics

The next folder is of another past project that I feel passionate about as this was one of my first attempts with using images drawing digitally and then accumulated into a film/animation/GIF. this topic was about St. Fagan's and how they are selective with the buildings and structures they collect and re-built, in the images there are GIF's and paintings from St Fagan’s, showing what they looked like before and after restoration. But I also added historic structures in and around my hometown like Neath Abbey, the Ivey Tower and Neath Castle that are also very important structures of Welsh history and Culture but due to expenses and location they get left to wither away. I guess for this project it was both an experimental lesson as well as a contextual lesson which in turn helped me understand that I do my best work when it’s about a topic I care about.

Mixed Projects

This folder is mainly a mash up of multiple small projects that I liked some of the imagery that came with it. this ranged from experimenting with visual metaphors, Group projects and creating work related to articles and audiobooks.
